The Administration is castrating America’s ability to perform meaningful scientific research. NASA’s chief scientist is fired; space probes that are ready to fly are canceled; research grants at major universities are being withdrawn. “Wasteful spending,” they chant. The US is no longer an industrial powerhouse, and it’s not likely to be one again, Trumpian fantasies or no. Our standing in the world depends largely on our ability to produce new ideas, inventions, and innovations. Choke off the supply of those, and America becomes a second tier nation. Stand up for science. Don’t let this Administration hamstring the country.
