In writing in strong opposition to HR7552 and its Senate counterpart. Separation of church and state is a cornerstone of our democracy. These bills, which seek to mandate biblical language to frame the Middle East, are an inappropriate and irresponsible use of government resources. It’s not your job to impose religious narratives on an entire region or to control the language of international policy. This legislation is a clear attempt to inject religion into politics and foreign policy, and it disrespects the beliefs of all Americans. Additionally, this legislation would limit freedom of speech in order to mandate prejudiced, anti-Palestinian bias. Please focus on addressing the real needs of your constituents and keep religion out of government decisions. I urge you to vote against this legislation and defend the principles of freedom and secular governance.
