I am writing as a concerned constituent to strongly oppose any efforts to deputize local law enforcement for mass deportation operations, as proposed by Donald Trump and his allies. These dangerous and authoritarian tactics threaten the safety, civil rights, and trust within our communities.
Turning local police into immigration enforcers erodes public safety by discouraging immigrants—both documented and undocumented—from reporting crimes, cooperating with investigations, or seeking help when they need it most. It fosters fear, racial profiling, and discrimination while diverting valuable law enforcement resources away from addressing actual public safety priorities.
America must reject the politics of hate and fear that aim to divide and terrorize immigrant families. I urge you to take a clear, public stand against these proposals, oppose any legislation or executive actions that would enable them, and protect the rights and dignity of all people in our community.
Thank you for your leadership in defending human rights, civil liberties, and the values our country is meant to uphold.
