Protect free speech, oppose deportations for legal protests

The First Amendment guarantees the freedom of speech and expression to all persons within the United States, regardless of citizenship status. Efforts by the government to deport legal visa holders and residents solely due to their speech and protests raise serious constitutional concerns. While certain speech may be controversial or offensive to some, the ability to voice dissent is a cornerstone of our democracy. We have a proud history of protecting free speech rights, even for unpopular or provocative viewpoints. Politically motivated crackdowns on legal residents engaged in protected expression undermine our shared values of liberty and democratic governance. As a nation built by immigrants fleeing persecution, we must resist any unlawful attempts to punish individuals for exercising their fundamental rights. I urge you to speak out against these troubling deportation actions targeting lawful visa holders and residents based on their speech alone. Safeguarding robust First Amendment protections for all is essential to preserving the freedoms that define America. We must uphold our constitutional principles and reject any efforts to erode civil liberties through harassment or retaliation against protected speech activities.
