The lack of ethical standards and potential conflicts of interest surrounding Tyler Hassen's appointment to overhaul the Interior Department are deeply concerning. Giving sweeping authority to an oil executive who has not divested from fossil fuel interests or filed an ethics commitment raises serious questions about improper influence and undermines public trust. This appears to directly contradict President Trump's promise to "drain the swamp" of corruption and prioritize the interests of the American people over those of powerful industries. I urge you to take immediate action to address these issues. At a minimum, Hassen should be required to fully divest from all energy holdings and investments that pose conflicts, and file a formal ethics agreement detailing how he will avoid advancing his own financial interests or those of his former employers. Ideally, his reorganization efforts should be halted until a Senate-confirmed appointee who meets strict ethical standards can lead this process transparently and impartially. The integrity of public lands management and the nation's resources is at stake. Accountability and ethical governance must be restored.
