Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has repeatedly demonstrated it operates as a lawless, unaccountable agency terrorizing communities, violating due process, separating families, and using cruelty as political theater. Its continued existence is not a necessity, it is a choice. And it is a choice the American people are increasingly rejecting. This is not public safety. This is state-sanctioned abuse. Incremental reforms, “oversight,” or temporary funding freezes are no longer acceptable. ICE must be fully defunded and dismantled. Any legitimate immigration functions can and should be handled by agencies that operate transparently, humanely, and in compliance with the Constitution. The protests across this country are not symbolic. They are a mandate. Voters are paying attention to who continues to bankroll an agency that has lost all moral and legal legitimacy. If Congress continues to approve funding for ICE in any form, it is choosing to ignore the will of the people it was elected to represent. My wife and I urge you to support disbanding ICE and to replace it with a more transparent, humane, and law-abiding enforcement agency.
