Use state resources to challenge the work of DOGE

To: Gov. Kotek, Sen. Lieber, Rep. Grayber

From: A verified voter in Portland, OR

February 5

I’m writing today at this pivotal moment in U.S. history to implore you to use the tools afforded the Oregon state government to bring Elon Musk and his co-conspirators to justice. These actions may include: Suing the U.S. government for allowing the operation of DOGE in other agency’s offices and permitting access to secure servers to individuals without security clearances. Filing state criminal charges against Elon Musk and the individuals accompanying him as he pillages federal information infrastructure without appropriate security clearance or oversight. Suing Treasury staff and governmental security (whether Secret Service personnel or from another agency) who enabled Musk and his operatives to obtain Oregonian’s personal information. I also urge you to look into reports that Headstart programs in Oregon are not receiving federal funds. Should Headstart and other federal educational programs be denied funding guaranteed by legislation and the rights of all children to a free and appropriate public education, I expect the State of Oregon to sue the Trump government, DOGE, and the OBM (if implicated) for payment of these funds, without conditions. Should the Department of Education demand control or limitation of Oregonian curricula (especially regarding DEI content, accurate reporting of historical fact, and accessibility issues), also expect the State to challenge those new directives. Finally, I want to express my hope that efforts are made for coordination across the aisle, particularly regarding the dangers inherent in the data leaks and overall illegal privileges granted Elon Musk and his co-conspirators.
