An Open Letter

To: Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted, Rep. Joyce

From: A constituent in Willoughby, OH

July 16

The Supreme Court's decision to allow the dismantling of the Department of Education without providing any reasoning is deeply concerning and raises questions about the Court's adherence to democratic principles. The justices have a duty to explain their rulings, especially those with far-reaching consequences impacting congressionally mandated programs. Their silence undermines the Court's legitimacy and the rule of law. This alarming lack of transparency calls for congressional oversight to investigate potential politicization within the nation's highest court. The public deserves answers about the reasoning behind such a momentous decision that could devastate the Department of Education and jeopardize civil rights enforcement and student aid programs. Transparency and accountability are vital for maintaining faith in the judiciary's impartiality. The Court's refusal to provide any justification for its actions is unacceptable in a democratic society. Congress must exercise its constitutional authority to examine this concerning pattern and take appropriate measures to uphold the separation of powers and the integrity of the judicial branch. Allowing the Court to operate without scrutiny or explanation sets a dangerous precedent that threatens the foundations of the American legal system.
