Question for the day…are y’all insane? The WH blames Democrats and the media for the incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night. Karoline Leavitt called all critics of Trump and/or GOP policies a “left-wing cult of hatred against POTUS and all of those who support him” and blamed the “entire Democrat party” for the event. Excuse me? The president and other MAGA-faithful have shit-posted, threatened, and persistently encouraged violence in words, deeds, and juvenile but dangerous memes. Calling for execution. Calling for revenge. Calling for hate to be turned on Americans. So much so that it’s basically a GOP cottage industry. And can you say January 6? Whose mouth did that violence come out of? But forcing supporters to accept a lie as reality is right up the authoritarian alley. And hammering the claim that Democrats are calling for violence, when in fact the president is the main practitioner of violent rhetoric, is just more BS propaganda. The one thing he’s actually good at. He can’t close the deal on Iran. In fact they seem to be calling the shots. The German chancellor said that the US clearly has no strategic plan and that the “entire nation is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership.” Gas prices are at the highest level in four years. Anybody have a clue what happens when the world runs out of their stockpiled reserves of oil? Media reporting says that the damage Iran inflicted on American military bases, radar systems, aircraft, warehouses, and infrastructure in the Gulf region was far worse than the administration has told the public and will cost up to $5B to repair. There are still thoughts of the US bailing out the UAE for the economic cost for them of the war Trump started. A war that the GOP Congress refuses to take any responsibility for. Other than to allow it to continue. But with all the chaos in the world and in our country, here’s what’s top of mind… Trump and his loyalists, including at the State Department, are finalizing plans to put Trump’s face in US passports. They are already minting a $1 coin with his face on it. Issuing a gold commemorative coin with his face on it. And putting Trump’s face on national park passes. And y’all are being requested to officially change the name of the Defense Department to the “Department of War.” A change that will cost we the people $52M. But the icing on the cake was added by Lindsay Graham, and other premier sycophants, who jumped in front of the cameras to present a bill to appropriate $400M of taxpayer money to build Trump’s ballroom. Republican loyalists in the House have also called for public funding of a ballroom. You have got to be f-ing kidding. Trump’s ballroom is yet another hill the GOP has chosen to die on? That’s your choice. But it’s not ours. Keep our money out of it.
