An Open Letter

To: Sen. Simmons-Gessesse, Rep. Cassidy, Gov. Pritzker

From: A verified voter in Chicago, IL

April 27

Illinois has a flooding issue and I’m curious why we can’t solve it like the Dutch by using wind mills to pump water back out to the lake? And also using street cut outs around trees. More green roofs and rain barrels. It seems like there are several solutions to this issue and none seem to be implemented or discussed. Why is that? Also, we need universal healthcare, we need it now and please stop using lack of money the issue. We all know there is money. And make our homelessness a crisis and just force empty units to be used as housing. We don’t need to make more housing, we have plenty of vacant units and vacant office buildings and vacant hospitals that can be used for free housing now. No one can actually “pull themselves up by their bootstraps.” They need housing. Just make it happen. It can be done.
