Reject any weak budget compromise proposed by Jeffries or Schumer

To: Rep. Dexter, Sen. Merkley, Sen. Wyden

From: A verified voter in Portland, OR

September 5

I have read that Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer plan to offer a compromise to continue to fund the government - a government budget that’s been broken by the passage of Trump’s so-called Big Beautiful Bill. The compromise is meant to continue funding for the ACA, while allowing the Executive branch to solidify its grip on every other aspect of funding. I do not want you to compromise in any way with the Republican-made mess. I am appalled at the weakness shown by Jeffries and Schumer prior to this, and their continued appeasement of the Republican-led regime. Please, I urge you, do not support any compromise. While a compromise may reduce some of the pain felt - assuming the Republicans perform in good faith - it gains us little, and will further weaken other agencies and services. Do. Not. Compromise.
