An Open Letter
To: Pres. Biden
From: A verified voter in Canton, NC
November 20
Thank you for your dedicated service as President these past four years, not to mention the decades prior to becoming Commander-in-Chief.
I’m going to miss having a caring, knowledgeable and experienced lawmaker sitting at the Resolute Desk.
I am writing to urge you to do whatever is possible to mitigate the anticipated damage the president-elect is about to unleash upon the country.
Is there a way to stop him from appointing a cabinet that is not at all vetted? Is there a way to limit information to those who do not pass a background check? Is there a way to insist that all people seeking a security clearance successfully pass a background check with no exceptions?
I hope that between you and those around you, something can be done to soften the blow.
I fear that future generations will not understand why we did not do more to stop the introduction of fascism and white Christian nationalism.
I also fear that many of the future appointees will be using information as a weapon against our own citizens. Is there a way to limit any of that information?
Again, thank you for your many years of service to our country. I believe you will go down in the annals of history as one of our best and most accomplished presidents.
Wishing you and Dr. Biden a joyful holiday season.
I regret that I was unable to figure out how to get on your Christmas card list.
