Vote no on Jay Clayton's confirmation. His record raises serious questions about whether he will serve the public interest or the financial industry he spent his career representing. Wall Street insiders do not belong in roles that require independent oversight of Wall Street.
Clayton's tenure as SEC Chair was marked by a consistent tilt toward corporate interests over everyday investors. Enforcement actions dropped, rules protecting retail investors were weakened, and he left the agency to return to private practice — a revolving door that should disqualify, not qualify, him for this post. Confirming him sends the message that regulatory capture is acceptable. It is not. Vote no.
