The ongoing violence in Gaza has caused immense suffering and loss of innocent lives. A ceasefire is urgently needed to halt the escalating bloodshed. However, a temporary pause in hostilities will not resolve the underlying issues driving this conflict. That is why I urge you to go further and support a complete, permanent ceasefire along with a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel. Continued military aid and the provision of weapons from the United States enables Israel's assault and occupation of Palestinian territories. This cycle of violence will only perpetuate unless concrete steps are taken to cut off the flow of arms fueling the conflict. An embargo would incentivize a political solution and bring all parties to the negotiating table on more equal terms. The horrific human toll, particularly on civilians in Gaza, demands bold action. Upholding human rights and promoting a just peace should be our guiding principles. I implore you to leverage America's influence by championing an arms embargo and a lasting ceasefire. Only then can we hope to break this tragic pattern of devastation and move towards a resolution grounded in dignity and self-determination for all.
