Recent reports from this Republican administration’s newly-opened detention center are horrifying.
This administration has created a concentration camp, dedicated to abusing and killing its occupants. In the United States. I never imagined I would type those words.
My oldest uncle fought to liberate such camps in Germany, now we have purposely built an atrocity to match any of them.
I am outraged at the reports of the deadly heat, of one meal a day of rotted, maggot-filled food, of poor sanitation with unusable restrooms, of contaminated drinking water, and of no water for bathing.
This camp is and inhumane death trap. Its occupants—most with no criminal record—are being subjected to cruel and unusual punishment. This is third-world barbarity, and its perpetrators need to face charges in the International Criminal Court.
Morally, there is no difference between throwing people to the alligators and throwing them in ovens.
You, as a member of Congress, can put an end to this horror, yet you remain silent on the subject. Do you support such camps in the U.S.? If not, I urge you to demand the camp, and any others like it, be closed immediately. The blood of those who will die there will be on your hands.
