I have been horrified to read about the blatant partisanship exhibited by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito. There are also relevant questions about the impartiality of Justice Thomas due to his wife’s active participation in the events of January 6. There are also issues of “buying” justice that are raised by the gifts and expensive vacations that certain Justices have accepted. The Court needs to be cleaned up to restore its credibility and legitimacy in the eyes of the public. There should be a binding code of ethics that applies to the Supreme Court and you, on the Judiciary Committee, are charged with providing oversight. The fact that Samuel Alito is flying a flag representing a Christian Nationalist group is alarming. One of the pillars of our Constitution is the separation of church and state. Hoe can a man who flies this flag be trusted to enforce this precious tenet of our nation?
