Please Vote No on the SAVE Act! Why are representatives so duped and willing to push through the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act bill based on hyped social media rumor mill claims that undocumented voting is an enormous problem when the research done on this problem by Heritage Foundation, Kato, Brennan Center, shows that it is actually a very minor problem. It's a Republican voter suppression bill. The “show your papers” requirement, which requires a passport or birth certificate to register to vote, could disenfranchise tens of millions of people. Only half of Americans have a passport, for example. Twenty-one million Americans don’t have access to their citizenship documents. That probably understates the number of people who could be disenfranchised, because there are 69 million married women who have a different last name than the name on their birth certificate. For example, if you were born at home in the Jim Crow South, you never had a birth certificate. So there are elderly voters in the Jim Crow South who never got that documentation. It also requires you to show your documentation in person at an elections office. Not fair. Vote No on the SAVE Act!
