I am writing to express my alarm and outrage at what is happening? Where is your voice? Silence is complicity! The current budget is an outrage! It gives billionaires, billionaire corporations and millionaires huge tax cuts while gutting Medicaid, Snap, head start and likely those on ACA! Please don’t bother to justify it! There is no justification! Please don’t bother to claim it’s riddled with fraud, waste and abuse! That is happening at the top - not the bottom! We have a President who is violating the emoluments clause by accepting a 500,000 plane from Qatar! We have a President whose wealth has just grown exponentially by a foreign oligarch with connections to the UAE who has invested billions in crypto currency and the Trump coin! It’s not a hard reach here to gather these are bribes! We have Donald Trump Jr opening up a private club for members willing to pay 500,000 to belong to a club called the Executive branch! We have Doge headed by Elon Musk gutting all federal agencies as he continues to be rewarded with billion dollar federal contracts! Seems the fraud, waste and abuse are coming from the richest and most powerful amongst - not the least amongst us! Seems that blaming the victim has become a favorite political strategy to justify gutting all federal government and enriching the wealthiest amongst us! It’s an outrage and it’s immoral! Where is your voice? If you care so little about your constituents, do you at least care about fiscal responsibility since this budget blows up the deficit by trillions. Does that no longer matter to you either? Do you care about our rights? Stephen Miller has suggested that the writ of Habeas Corpus be thrown out! Would you want someone in your family to be detained without the right to due process? All over the country we are seeing people abducted by ICE without due process. A woman holding her baby and her daughter who panicked and was then arrested as well. A father who was grabbed by masked men while his children were left in the truck! A woman with three young daughters who just moved to Oklahoma and had their home invaded, were forced outside partially clothed, had guns in their faces and their money and electronics taken! Then there were two children, both US citizens deported! One of those children has cancer. You say nothing! Representative Jayapal proposed an amendment that would ban deportations of US citizens ( which is already illegal). Not a single Republican voted for it! We are watching authoritarianism at our door and you say and do nothing! Doing nothing, remaining silent is abdicating your duty to the constitution and to your constituents! It’s not okay Senator Lankford! If you can’t summon the courage to speak up and do your job, please consider resigning so someone else who can use their voice can take that spot. That’s what we need! Not silence!
