Protest Against the Politicization of Federal Law Enforcement

To: Rep. Crow, Sen. Hickenlooper, Sen. Bennet

From: A constituent in Aurora, CO

October 16

I am writing to express my deep concern over the reported use of federal law enforcement against Representative Ilhan Omar, a sitting member of Congress. The use of federal law enforcement to target political opponents undermines the rule of law and threatens the democratic principles upon which the United States was founded. Federal agencies must serve the American people, not the political interests of those in power. Any credible allegation that these institutions are being used to intimidate or retaliate against elected officials demands serious scrutiny and accountability. Regardless of one’s political views, no American should accept the weaponization of government authority against those who challenge the administration. The independence of Congress, the equal application of the law, and the right of elected representatives to perform their duties without political intimidation are fundamental safeguards of our democracy. I urge you to speak out against the politicization of federal law enforcement, demand transparency regarding the actions taken against Representative Omar, and insist that any investigation be conducted on legitimate legal grounds, free from political interference. The question is not whether one agrees with Representative Omar politically. The question is whether we are willing to allow the power of the federal government to be used against political opponents. That should deeply concern every American who values democracy and the rule of law. I expect my elected representatives to defend these principles unequivocally.
