Enact federal law protecting nationwide access to contraception.

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in New Braunfels, TX

The ability to access and use contraceptives is a fundamental right that impacts privacy, health, equality, and the ability to fully participate in society. The Supreme Court has repeatedly recognized the constitutional right to contraception. However, access to contraception is under threat from various state policies and initiatives aiming to restrict it. Congress must act decisively to safeguard this essential right for all Americans. Voting to pass legislation like the Right to Contraception Act would provide a clear statutory right to obtain contraceptives and engage in contraception free from coercion. It would prohibit laws that single out, impede or restrict access to contraceptive products, services and information. Critically, it allows individuals to enforce these protections through legal action. Protecting contraceptive access has far-reaching impacts on public health, economic equality, autonomy and human rights. For marginalized communities already facing barriers to healthcare, preserving this right is vital. By enshrining robust contraceptive protections into federal law, Congress can uphold established reproductive freedoms and advance equitable access to this essential healthcare nationwide. I urge you to prioritize and vote for these substantive legal protections for contraceptive rights.
