The majority party is abusing procedural rules to shield the administration from legitimate oversight and accountability. Preventing votes on resolutions of inquiry that could shed light on potential wrongdoing or conflicts of interest undermines the system of checks and balances. This partisan maneuver obstructs Congress's constitutional duty to conduct oversight and get answers for the American people. Such blatant obstruction erodes democratic norms and sets a disturbing precedent. Accountability and transparency should transcend party lines for the health of our democracy. The American people deserve better than having their elected representatives muzzled from asking legitimate questions about how their government operates. I urge restoring the ability to debate and vote on these resolutions to uphold congressional oversight powers and allow for proper scrutiny of the executive branch.
