Constituent Accountability
To: Rep. Garbarino
From: A verified voter in Amityville, NY
March 1
As a constituent, I deserve the opportunity to hear from you directly and pose questions about the actions you take on my behalf and on behalf of my neighbors. There are not many requirements for representatives, but I would argue the most obvious, important job is in the name: represent. Your availability to your constituents at this point correlates directly to your bravery, and I hope that you will not show the cowardice of many of your colleagues. Opting for “controlled settings” is admitting you cannot answer to the people who have given you this sacrosanct job within the United Stated government and those who rely on you to stand up for our values and opportunities. If you do not meet the moment, then you do not deserve the office. Please advocate for your positions and hear what we have to say in response. Congressional recess is not a break from your duties.
