I write to you today as a concerned Michigan citizen deeply committed to defending democracy and the Constitution. Representative Shri Thanedar has introduced seven articles of impeachment against former President Trump, including obstruction of justice, abuse of power, violations of First Amendment rights, corruption, and subversion of the justice system.
These are not partisan accusations — they strike at the heart of American democracy. If a nationwide vote were held, I believe the majority of Americans would support accountability for at least one of these charges.
This is a defining moment. Remaining silent is not neutrality — it is complicity. Authoritarianism grows when good leaders fail to stand up. If we call ourselves patriots, or people of Christian values, we must reject the works of the flesh: hatred, selfish ambition, discord, and pride — and instead defend love, justice, peace, humility, and truth.
I urge you to take a bold public stand. Speak clearly for constitutional democracy. Encourage your colleagues to do the same. Michigan has a proud history of defending justice — it must continue now.
We must do better as a nation — for every person, of every race, nationality, and background. True patriotism and Christian faith demand no less.
Please act with courage. Our democracy depends on it.
