Leaders who threaten the press don’t show control- they signal guilt!

Threatening to jail journalists for protecting sources is not strength—it’s a blatant violation of the First Amendment. A free press is not optional in a democracy; it is the mechanism that exposes abuse of power. When you try to crush it, you don’t look tough—you look terrified.
And terrified of what, exactly?
Because history is clear: leaders who silence journalists are usually hiding corruption, abuses, or worse. Your threats don’t project control—they signal guilt. If there were nothing to hide, you wouldn’t be trying so hard to bury it.
That’s not leadership. That’s exposure.
