Cuts to IHSS overtime

To: Gov. Newsom

From: A constituent in Sonoma, CA

May 16

I heard that you want to reduce overtime hours for IHSS. I am a single mother of a severely autistic daughter who is 25 now. Providing her care makes it so that I can't work. She is entitled to the maximum giurs due to her disability and getting those 30 giurs of overtime is what makes it possible for us to handle the high cost of living in CA. Having her at home means she is saving the state the cost of full 24 hour support in a home or facility which is important since there are not enough facilities to handle our population. Please do not limit overtime hours for.live in providers. Section 8 can't help me stay with my child and I am almost 60 and all alone. I am afraid this policy change will lead to more homelessness as our home is being sold due to insurance companies not wanting write policies for California homes, which means our landlord will have to sell to someone Roch who can afford exorbitant insurance but will jack up the rents. What will happen to us? We need your help and protection now more than ever.
