Stop the Iran War
To: Pres. Trump
From: A constituent in Grand Rapids, MI
March 21
Dear Mr. President, you need to end the Iran war immediately. This war is deeply unpopular with the people and could trap thousands of U.S. troops in a ground war. You yourself acknowledged on Friday that the U.S. is considering winding down operations, stating we're "getting very close to meeting our objectives." The Pentagon predicted a 4-6 week mission, and we're already in week 3. The mission has accomplished its stated goals of degrading Iran's missile capability and preventing nuclear weapons development. Continuing beyond this timeline transforms a limited strike into an open-ended conflict. The Strait of Hormuz crisis is being used to justify prolonging the war, but you yourself said other nations who use the strait should guard it, not the U.S. The White House is now discussing seizing Iranian territory, which would guarantee a wider war. Our allies refused to join this effort because they recognize how reckless it is. Gas prices are rising at home while we spend billions on strikes that won't reopen the strait. Bring our troops home before this becomes another endless Middle East war.
