CONGRESS MUST ACT: PASS H.R. 2550 & STOP DESTRUCTION OF OUR FEDERAL WORKFORCE
To: Sen. Schmitt, Sen. Hawley
From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO
July 30
I am writing once again to urge your immediate attention and leadership regarding H.R. 2550, the Protect America’s Workforce Act. This legislation is not just another bill—it is a critical safeguard for federal employees and for the stability and effectiveness of the entire federal workforce that serves the American people every day. The ongoing actions of this administration have already caused significant harm to federal agencies and the dedicated public servants who keep them running. We are witnessing the erosion of institutional knowledge, the weakening of essential services, and the destabilization of agencies that millions of Americans rely on. These are not abstract concerns—they are real consequences affecting veterans, seniors, families, farmers, students, and communities across the country. Federal employees are the backbone of our government. They administer Social Security and Medicare, protect our food supply, support disaster response, collect vital economic data, enforce our laws, and ensure that government programs function as intended. Yet instead of being supported, they have been subjected to uncertainty, workforce reductions, attacks on collective bargaining rights, and policies that undermine their ability to do their jobs effectively. This is not reform. It is dismantling. H.R. 2550 represents an opportunity for Congress to step in and restore balance, accountability, and fairness. It is already clear that the House has acted, and now the responsibility rests with the Senate to move this legislation forward. I am asking you, as my representative, to do everything in your power to bring this bill to the Senate floor, to speak out in its support, and to vote yes when the time comes. The American people are watching. They understand that when federal agencies are weakened, it is not bureaucrats who suffer—it is everyday citizens who lose reliable services, accurate information, and effective government support. We cannot allow continued erosion of the workforce that holds these systems together. Congress has both the authority and the responsibility to act. That means defending federal employees, protecting collective bargaining rights, ensuring agencies are properly staffed, and stopping policies that further destabilize the civil service. It also means standing up publicly when actions by this administration threaten the integrity of our government institutions. I am asking you directly: please take a stand. Speak out in support of H.R. 2550. Help bring it to the Senate floor. Vote yes. And make it clear that the destruction of the federal workforce is unacceptable to you and to the constituents you represent. This is a defining moment. Federal employees deserve stability, dignity, and respect. The American people deserve a government that works. I urge you to act without delay.
