No American Blood for Venezuelan Oil

To: Rep. Moran, Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Tyler, TX

December 17

So Dear Leader is ramping up his unhinged threats against Venezuela. Need I remind you how our last few wars of choice went? We did not exactly cover ourselves in glory. And our history of adventurism in Latin America isn’t exactly a happy story. How long are you going to let this go on? Need I remind you that only Congress (that would be you) has the Constitutional power to declare war? Just how much of your power are you willing to cede to a madman? And how many American military men and women are you willing to consign to death to appease his lust for violence? We just finally managed to end one 20-year war. Are you going to let that man drag us into another? This isn’t about drugs, we all know that. This is about oil, pure and simple. And Dear Leader’s need to look like a strongman. We’re committing acts of murder and piracy just so he can thump his chest with his tiny hands and show the world how tough he is. You’ve got to stop this. No American blood for oil. It didn’t work in Iraq, and it’s not going to work in Venezuela. No Americans sacrificed to the whims of a demented would-be king. Stop him. For the love of God and this nation, STOP HIM. Just, for once, stand up and do your damned job!
