I am writing as a furious constituent demanding immediate congressional action regarding reports that the White House blocked the release of an intelligence warning about rising threats to the U.S. homeland tied to the conflict with Iran.
If our own intelligence and security agencies determined that Americans face an elevated threat and the administration suppressed that warning, it is not merely irresponsible—it is a betrayal of the government’s duty to protect its citizens.
Even more alarming is the political context. The administration has escalated tensions abroad while controlling the flow of intelligence at home. That combination creates a deeply dangerous situation for both national security and our democracy. I am profoundly concerned that a manufactured or exploited crisis could be used to justify extraordinary measures, including domestic military deployment or emergency powers that interfere with the upcoming midterm elections.
Let me be clear: any attempt to manipulate national security threats to consolidate political power or disrupt the democratic process would be an unforgivable abuse of the presidency.
Congress has a constitutional obligation to act as a check on executive power. That means demanding immediate answers, conducting aggressive oversight, and ensuring that intelligence is not suppressed for political purposes. If credible evidence emerges that this administration is endangering Americans or manipulating national security information for political advantage, Congress must pursue the strongest possible remedies available under the Constitution.
History will judge whether you defended the country and its democracy—or stood by while they were put at risk.
