The Equal Rights Amendment would constitutionally ban discrimination on the basis of sex, providing a powerful legal tool to fight gender-based inequality. Despite being first proposed in 1923, the ERA has not yet been added to the U.S. Constitution due to opposition and endless roadblocks. With a newfound momentum thanks to recent state ratifications, it's crucial that Congress eliminate the arbitrary ratification deadline and recognize the ERA as the 28th Amendment. Ratifying the ERA would uphold the American promise of equal rights and is long overdue. Please take action to finally enshrine gender equality into the highest law of the land.
