I’m deeply concerned about the administration’s plans to cap refugee admissions at 7,500. I urge you to call on the administration to properly consult with Congress on the admissions target as required by law (in the Refugee Act of 1980) and urge them to fully restore the refugee resettlement program for the most at-risk refugees around the world. To add to the ungenerous, patently unAmerican way this is being proposed is that all 7,500 admissions are being extended to White South Africans! Far from being “colorblind” this administration is acting on racial grounds to accept White people. Refugees admissions should be based on need rather than a preference for White people.
