The Pope has good advice. Protect the press.

I was happy to see that the new pope believes the press should be protected. This used to be something you agreed with. Republicans today hate the press. These are some things you have allowed your party to support. Here’s a list of some notable journalists he has directly insulted, with brief context: 1. Jim Acosta (CNN) – Called him “a rude, terrible person” and revoked his press credentials after a combative exchange during a 2018 press conference. 2. Megyn Kelly (formerly Fox News) – Criticized her harsh questioning during a 2015 debate, saying she had “blood coming out of her wherever.” 3. Don Lemon (CNN) – Regularly insulted him as “the dumbest man on television.” 4. April Ryan (American Urban Radio Networks) – Called her “nasty,” “a loser,” and “a loser who doesn’t know what she’s doing.” 5. Yamiche Alcindor (PBS) – Accused her of asking a “nasty” question during COVID briefings and claimed she was being “threatening.” 6. George Stephanopoulos (ABC News) – Dismissed him as “a little wise guy” and questioned his credibility due to his work under Bill Clinton. 7. Katy Tur (NBC News) – Called her “little Katy” and publicly demeaned her at rallies; she required Secret Service protection due to threats. 8. Chuck Todd (NBC News/Meet the Press) – Referred to him as “Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd” and “an overrated political pundit.” 9. Chris Wallace (Fox News, later CNN) – Criticized his debate moderation and accused him of protecting Joe Biden. 10. Mika Brzezinski (MSNBC) – Said she was “bleeding badly from a facelift” and insulted her intelligence. 11. Joe Scarborough (MSNBC) – Called him “psycho Joe” and suggested he should be investigated for a decades-old death of a staffer (without evidence). 12. Anderson Cooper (CNN) – Trump mocked him repeatedly, especially over ratings and personal style. 13. Wolf Blitzer (CNN) – Accused him of being “too stupid to understand” and called CNN “fake news.” 14. Jonathan Karl (ABC News) – Accused him of writing “a fake book” and insulted his reporting on multiple occasions. 15. Lesley Stahl (CBS 60 Minutes) – Walked out of a 2020 interview and said she was “not nice” and “always negative.” 16. Brian Stelter (CNN) – Called him “a pudgy, unattractive loser” and mocked his coverage. This list is not even exhaustive, and excludes FCC licensing threats and lawsuits against networks. Why is the Republican Party doing these things? I am registered Republican but I cannot vote for a party that no longer supports our constitution.
