As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to use the upcoming July confirmation hearings to aggressively investigate Todd Blanche, and ultimately vote NO on his confirmation for Attorney General.
Blanche has already proven he lacks the integrity to lead our nation’s highest law enforcement agency. While the public was distracted by the controversial $1.8 billion "settlement" fund, Blanche quietly signed a one-page "May 19 Addendum." This document attempts to grant the President and his businesses permanent, blanket immunity from IRS audits and tax claims.
No American is above the law. By attempting to sign away the government's ability to audit the very President who appointed him, Blanche engaged in a corrupt conflict of interest.
The Senate must not treat these confirmation hearings as a formality. This is a moment for rigorous oversight. I am asking you to take the following actions:
1. Expose the Details: Use the hearings to demand the full, unredacted release of all DOJ communications regarding the creation of the May 19 immunity deal. The public deserves to know the full extent of this arrangement.
2. Defund the Deal: Attach strict riders to upcoming appropriations bills to ensure no taxpayer resources are used to implement or enforce this immunity settlement.
3. Pass Statutory Fixes: Support the BLANCHE Act and the No Taxpayer-Funded Settlement Slush Funds Act to permanently ban political appointees from trading legal immunity for political rewards.
An attorney general must protect the rule of law, not weaponize it to shield the powerful. Todd Blanche’s actions have already disqualified him from holding the public trust. I urge you to demand the facts during his hearing, protect our tax dollars, and vote NO on his permanent confirmation.
