Investigate Supreme Court Conflicts of Interest in the Bayer/Glyphosate Ruling

To: Sen. Alsobrooks, Sen. Van Hollen, Rep. Elfreth

From: A verified voter in Arnold, MD

July 2

Launch a congressional investigation into the conflicts of interest and potential corruption surrounding the Supreme Court's recent ruling in favor of Bayer over glyphosate liability. This decision — backed by the Trump administration — shields a corporation whose product has been banned in 40 countries and linked to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, leukemia, and other cancers in farmers, gardeners, and veterans across America. My family has lived this. A Montana wheat farmer in my family contracted Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1989 after RoundUp exposure. That is not an abstraction. That is a life. The conflict of interest here is staggering. Bayer manufactures both the herbicide that causes cancer and the drugs used to treat it. The Court ruled in their favor anyway. Citizens United opened the floodgates for corporate money to influence every branch of government, and this ruling looks like exactly that influence at work. Congress has the oversight authority to demand answers — use it. Subpoena financial disclosures, investigate lobbying contacts, and find out who benefited from this outcome. The American people deserve to know whether justice was bought.
