I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my strong support for Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden’s call for answers from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding reports that personnel affiliated with Elon Musk have sought access to the highly sensitive Treasury Department payment system. This system, which handles trillions of dollars annually, including Social Security and Medicare benefits, tax credits, and payments to government contractors, is integral to the financial well-being of millions of Americans.
The potential for conflicts of interest—especially when private interests, such as Musk-owned companies, may directly compete with the beneficiaries of these funds—raises serious concerns. The payment system is managed by non-political staff, and I strongly believe it should remain protected from external influence or interference.
I fully agree with Senator Wyden’s actions in seeking transparency and accountability regarding who gains access to this system. I urge you and your colleagues in the Senate to support similar efforts to ensure this system is safeguarded, with proper oversight to prevent any misuse or conflicts of interest.
As a concerned citizen, I believe it is essential that we remain vigilant in protecting the integrity of our federal financial systems and ensuring they are used exclusively for the public good. Please consider taking similar steps to demand answers and strengthen protections for this vital system.
Thank you for your time and your continued service to the people of CA. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this important issue.
