I support the SERVE Act

To: Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick

From: A verified voter in Philadelphia, PA

January 14

I am writing as a constituent to urge you to support Senator Bernie Sanders’ SERVE Act (Stop Executive Renaming for Vanity and Ego). Public institutions, federal buildings, and government programs exist to serve the people, not to function as branding tools for whoever temporarily holds power. Allowing executive branch officials to rename public assets for personal, political, or ideological reasons wastes taxpayer dollars, creates confusion, and undermines the neutrality and stability that government should provide. The SERVE Act is a straightforward, commonsense safeguard. It reinforces the principle that public resources should not be repurposed for self-promotion or partisan signaling, and it ensures continuity and respect for history, law, and democratic norms. At a time when trust in government is already strained, this legislation sends an important message: public service is about responsibility and restraint, not ego. I strongly encourage you to support the SERVE Act and to stand for accountable, non-performative governance. Thank you for your time and for your service. I look forward to seeing your support for this important legislation.
