Domestic Military Deployments
To: Rep. Crenshaw
From: A constituent in Kingwood, TX
September 24
I attended the US Naval Academy as an 18-year-old in 1969. I received an appointment by my then hero, President Nixon. I took my oath to the constitution on I-Day in June 1969, with Vietnam raging. I felt a deep conviction in that action which I feel even to this day as a retired Commander at the age of 74. As a LT(jg), I spent a year at the Amphib Base on Coronado. One of my classmates made it through BUDS and became a SEAL. I worked in a SPECWAR unit as a LT and LCDR working for my CO, who was a SEAL with combat experience in Vietnam.
I hold you with a special reverence, not just as a SEAL, but as a wounded warrior. I would expect in normal times that your status and wounds are a deep testament to YOUR conviction and commitment to that oath.
However, I’ve begun to doubt that with your deafening silence on the matters around the deployment of the military against US citizens in defiance of the Posse Comitatus Act. I am astounded, in fact! Have you sold out?
I honestly can’t wrap my mind around the fact that a committed warrior would ignore such egregious conduct by the Pentagon and the President. It just confounds me!
As a constituent, you owe me an explanation!
