The Trump administration can’t keep its lies straight. Last summer they announced that Iran’s nuclear capability had been “obliterated “. Now the story is that they still had nuclear work going on and would be a threat in months if not weeks. On Monday, Marco Rubio told reporters that the US was aware that Israel was going to strike Iran, and we had to strike also to protect US assets that Iran would target in retaliation. Tuesday he testily responded to questions that that was not the case, Trump had decided to strike first. After the illegal “war” (Trump’s word) had started we were told that there would be another 4-5 days of bombing. Now this could last 4-5 months or longer, and the prospect of boots on the ground was floated, denied by other officials. Congress must pass the war powers resolution to assert its Constitutional authority and limit any further escalation. In addition, Congress must force the release of the rest of the Epstein files to finally get all the information out. We can’t let Trump use the war to distract from the growing certainty that he is more deeply involved than has been reported.
