Stop the Marie Antoinette Spending Spree

To: Rep. Messmer, Sen. Banks, Sen. Young

From: A verified voter in Mount Vernon, IN

November 1

I'm writing because I am fed up with Trump's reckless spending, Congress can do something about it and choosing to ignore it and do nothing. Today- Nov. 1 marks the potential end of SNAP benefits, while 700,000 federal workers go without pay. But Trump just spent $3.4 million to fly to Mar-a-Lago and threw a lavish Great Gatsby Halloween party. Remodeled Lincoln bathroom with wall to ceiling marble and demolished the East wing for an elaborate and ridiculous ballroom. I can't help but compare this to Marie Antoinette's "let them eat cake" moment. Trump's actions speak louder than his rambling, yelling, incoherent words blaming everyone else... he will let the poor of our country starve while he spends tax dollars on vanity projects and parties. This is wrong on so many levels. This president and his administration need to be held accountable, and Congress is the group who can do so. So I'm strongly urging you to hold the president accountable for his reckless spending while many Americans go without - they are going hungry with raising healthcare rates and high groceries prices, just weeks before Thanksgiving and Christmas.
