Oppose H.R. 86 – Protect Workplace Safety: OSHA Saves Lives

To: Sen. Hickenlooper, Rep. Crow, Sen. Bennet

From: A verified voter in Littleton, CO

April 16

I am writing as a concerned constituent to express my strong opposition to H.R. 86, the “Nullify Occupational Safety and Health Administration Act” (NOSHA Act), introduced by Rep. Andy Biggs. This bill seeks to abolish the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and repeal the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, effectively dismantling the federal framework that safeguards the health and safety of American workers . (https://www.opeiu.org/MediaCenter/TabId/1637/ArtMID/5198/ArticleID/2874/Urgent-Action-Needed-to-Oppose-HR-86.aspx) OSHA has been instrumental in reducing workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities since its inception. Eliminating this agency would leave millions of workers vulnerable, particularly those in high-risk industries such as construction, manufacturing, and healthcare. The protections and standards established by OSHA are the result of decades of advocacy and hard-earned progress. Repealing them would not only endanger workers but also undermine public trust in our commitment to safe working conditions. (https://www.billtrack50.com/billdetail/1764922) I urge you to stand against H.R. 86 and any efforts to weaken workplace safety regulations. Protecting the well-being of American workers should remain a top priority. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
