I am writing as a constituent to urge a formal congressional review of President Donald J. Trump’s fitness to serve, based on recent and widely documented public conduct.
In recent weeks, the President has appeared disengaged or asleep during official proceedings, delivered nationally televised remarks containing demonstrably false statements, and exhibited confusion and incoherence in both prepared and unscripted settings, as reflected in video recordings, transcripts, and contemporaneous reporting.
Members of Congress previously asserted that similar conduct by President Biden raised serious concerns about fitness for office. Constitutional standards must be applied consistently, regardless of party.
The Constitution requires the President to be able to faithfully execute the duties of the office (Article II) and provides mechanisms to address incapacity or unfitness. I ask that you place constitutional responsibility above political considerations and state how you intend to address these concerns.
