Disapproval of Trump's Tariffs

To: Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Reschenthaler, Sen. McCormick

From: A verified voter in Crabtree, PA

March 12

Trump's recent tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China will have far-reaching consequences that destabilize the economy and erode trust. As a major trading partner, these tariffs put hundreds of thousands of American jobs at risk by disrupting supply chains and raising costs for businesses. This will ultimately drive up prices on essential consumer goods like food, cars, and clothing - amounting to a regressive tax on working families. The retaliatory tariffs imposed by Canada and Mexico, with more expected from China, only exacerbate the economic turmoil. Trump's abuse of emergency powers to force these tariffs through without Congressional oversight is a dangerous power grab that circumvents vital checks and balances. No president should have unilateral authority to spark trade wars that disrupt the lives of American citizens. I urge you to speak out forcefully against these reckless tariffs and their detrimental impacts. Demand accountability and the restoration of proper legislative processes before further damage is inflicted on our economy and international relations. Escalating tit-for-tat trade wars will only breed more instability, both at home and abroad. We must pursue more constructive paths forward through negotiation and compromise that strengthen partnerships rather than eroding them.
