I'm writing as your constituent today urging you to sign the No Dictators Declaration, a bipartisan effort to protect our freedoms and ensure that executive power is used responsibly, and only when truly necessary.
Our government was founded to serve 'the people' but every day that promise feels more at risk. Presidential administrations have increased the authority they wield since our constitution was written. But the recent Supreme Court decision granting broad immunity to presidents who use their official powers to engage in criminal acts must be a line in the sand.
Our freedom to speak truth to power and to criticize the government without fear of reprisal are two of America's greatest strengths. But, giving the president the power to operate above the law puts those fundamental rights in danger. You can help prevent such abuses by signing this pledge.
Please add your name to the No Dictators Declaration today and commit to closing the loopholes that will prevent presidents to clamp down on our rights and bypass the will of the people.
