I am writing to express my horror and anger at Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s plan to establish a national autism registry to track individuals by using private data without their consent.
This collection, sharing, and usage of *private* medical records – including medication records, lab testing results, genomics data, and claims from private insurers – without explicit consent from individuals is a clear violation of privacy rights and HIPAA regulations. Furthermore, this registry can – and most likely will – lead to unauthorized access and misuse of sensitive personal information, as no details are provided about how the data will be used and protected.
You must oppose the implementation of this national autism registry and any other forms of “tracking” vulnerable populations. Instead, we need decisive action to protect these communities from further harm and discrimination, while safeguarding the right to privacy.
