Now is the time for you, as my elected official, to stand up — clearly and publicly — to defend the right to protest and the right to free speech.
We are citizens. We are not the enemy. Yet military forces and ICE agents are being used against your own constituents — against your fellow Americans.
Is this what “making America great again” looks like? If America’s greatness depends on children crying for their families, reporters being shot with rubber bullets, and foster kids being dragged from their homes — then that is not greatness.
This is shameful. This is sickening.
We have seen ICE agents zip-tying terrified children, dragging them away from their parents. We have seen agents refusing to identify themselves, acting like a secret police. We have seen children held in freezing detention cells, separated from loved ones with no clear path to reunification.
Your silence will tell us what we need to know. It’s hard for me to accept that you approve of this. You are going to have to tell us — and act — if we are to believe otherwise.
DO SOMETHING. Your neighbors are your countrymen. They’re your constituents — all of us, across this country. Act now.
If you won’t protect children and the rule of law, what are we supposed to do?
