I am writing to formally insist that you act immediately to defend the rule of law by ensuring that the Department of Homeland Security fully and unequivocally complies with a federal court order issued in Minnesota. That order prohibits ICE and other federal agents from detaining, intimidating, or using chemical agents against peaceful protesters and observers.
Federal court injunctions are binding on the executive branch. Noncompliance is not a policy disagreement—it is a constitutional violation. When federal agencies disregard court orders protecting First and Fourth Amendment rights, they place themselves outside lawful authority and invite further abuse.
Congress has both the power and the responsibility to respond. Silence or delay signals tolerance of unlawful conduct. As my representative, I expect you to use your oversight authority to ensure this ruling is enforced.
I am asking you to:
• Publicly affirm that DHS is legally required to comply with this order in full
• Demand written confirmation that all DHS personnel have been instructed accordingly
• Support immediate oversight actions, including hearings or funding restrictions, if violations persist
Peaceful protest is protected conduct. Ignoring federal court orders is lawlessness. I will be watching for your public response and concrete action
