Dear President Biden,
Thank you for your service to our country and the American people. I have no doubt that your career and presidency will be remembered as one of the most effective and consequential.
I am hopeful that you are quietly working to secure your legacy and secure against the worst of the incoming administration. That is why I am writing to you today.
Donald Trump is nominating individuals who are not only unqualified, but clearly threaten our national security. For this reason, he refuses FBI background checks.
It is apparent he intends to first install Kash Patel, or someone equally unqualified and dangerous, as director of the FBI. This corruption of federal law enforcement will render future background checks nothing more than pageantry.
Mr. President, I am asking that you use the power of your presidency to protect against national security threats by initiating FBI background checks on all of Donald Trump's current and future nominees.
It is apparent he intends to first install Kash Patel, or someone equally unqualified and dangerous, as director of the FBl. This corruption of federal law enforcement will render future background checks nothing more than pageantry.
Mr. President, I am asking that you use the power of your presidency to protect against national security threats by initiating FBI background checks on all of Donald Trump's current and future nominees.
I appreciate your unwavering commitment to norms and decorum, and initiating FBI background checks is a departure from that. I urge you to consider the threat to democracy and national security.
Somehow Donald Trump won, but I believe we are the majority. We need to get through the next four years and have a democracy and government left to rebuild.
Thank you again for your service, restoring honor and dignity to the presidency and our country.
Sincerely,
