Published reports indicate the Senate may calendar the Laken Riley Act as early as this week. The bill has already passed in the House and would turn vast swaths of immigration policy over to the various states Attorney Generals. This is an awful terrible idea and should be avoided. Imagine, fifty separate policies on visas from India, Pakistan or Canada. Please do not be naive about what this might mean for current and future business, commerce or travel and tourism.
The fine people of Texas do not support such a proposal. If politicians want to change immigration policy, they should propose national policies that actually correct and fix our terrible broken system. I urge you to speak out against the proposal and vote ‘no’ should it come to a vote. Texans deserve to know where you stand and opposing this Act is in the best interest of us all.
Thank you for your very kind consideration and I look forward to your response.
