Opposition to the SAVE Act

To: Rep. Veasey, Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

February 13

I am writing to urge you to oppose the SAVE Act. While framed as an election integrity measure, this bill risks creating new barriers for eligible voters by requiring documentation that many Americans do not readily possess. The costs and burdens of obtaining those documents fall hardest on seniors, students, rural voters, married women who have changed their names, and low-income citizens. A poll tax by any other name still stinks. Any policy that effectively makes voting more expensive or more difficult for lawful citizens undermines the very democracy it claims to protect. Please vote no on the SAVE Act.
