The ever-increasing reporting on what our country is doing to people picked up during ICE detention is exposing more than just unlawful activity. It is exposing the inhumanity of America toward people simply looking for the same American dream that all our ancestors found. We are rounding people up randomly, sticking them on flights to Texas, keeping them for various amounts of time, not feeding, clothing, or housing them adequately, depriving them of medical care, not supplying their prescribed medications, verbally insulting them, physically abusing them, then 9 times out of 10 releasing them to find their own way back home, even if it’s 1000s of miles. Texas is sponsoring American concentration camps. We the people are paying for them. They are privately run, compensated by our government, in conditions that the Trump administration continues to deny, assuring us that everyone detained is treated humanely and within the parameters established to do so. This is bullshit. And reporting continues to show their words are false. Private profiteers are milking the country. The longer they detain people the more money they make. The more people they ‘house’ the more money they make. And once the limits of detention have passed, and they can no longer make money, they release people literally to the streets, with no way back to the states they where they live. Detainees are sick. Not getting medication. Parents are separated from children. Treated worse than animals. And the majority of them have done absolutely nothing wrong. They were simply part of a quota to be fulfilled. History is going to write the story we’re watching. And it will not end well for every one of you who knows what’s going on and makes the choice to do nothing. My home state of good ‘Christians’ makes me more ashamed than I can say. P.S. Every politician in Texas who continues to air campaign ads promulgating and encouraging the inhumanity we are watching does not deserve the job they are trying to get. Or keep. And I hope the next election proves that.
